Ms. Barcus, a partner in the firm, focuses her practice in civil litigation, including the defense of doctors, hospitals, and nursing homes. She is a 1993 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law, where she currently teaches legal writing and trial practice. She is an active member of the University of Tennessee Legal Clinic Advisory Board and the Hamilton Burnett American Inn of Court and is an alumnus of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She is secretary of the Knoxville Bar Association and a Fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation and the Knoxville Bar Foundation. She was the recipient of the Susan B. Anthony Award and a member of the 2005 Tennessee Law Leadership Class. Prior to joining the firm, she was Assistant General Counsel at the University of Tennessee, representing the hospital in all aspects of litigation including medical malpractice claims and employment disputes. She is licensed in Tennessee and Kentucky and practices in both state and federal courts. Her involvement in the Knoxville community has consisted of membership on the St. John’s Cathedral Board of Directors and James White Fort Board and serving as Secretary of the North Hills Garden Club. She enjoys commuting, road biking, mountain biking and kayaking on the Hiawassee River. She is a 2009 and 2010 Knoxville Top Attorney, Cityview Magazine. |
